Top triathlete with a love of home
Verena Walter came to run in the triathlon in 2004. She is especially fond of long, hard competitions. To date, the media designer has finished more than 20 long-distance races (3.8 kilometres swimming, 180 kilometres cycling and 42.195 kilometres running), and has been competing as a professional since 2004. Five times (2007, 2009, 2011, 2013, 2016) she qualified for the legendary Ironman World Championship in Hawaii. Verena Walter achieved her personal best time in the long distance in 2016 at Ironman Germany in Frankfurt/Main with 9:18.58 hours. While other professional athletes spend most of their time in training camps all over the world, Verena Walter swears by the training grounds on her own doorstep: "I always discover new corners and am amazed at how beautiful it is here!" says the triathlete. Verena Walter developed this love in the spring of lockdown 2020 when she circumnavigated the Sauerland on her bike: She covered 354 kilometres and 4,400 metres of altitude in one day - and shared her diverse experiences with her fans and followers.
