The list of common crimes in German supermarkets is long. ABUS video surveillance helps with prevention.
ABUS secures Edeka supermarket in Pforzheim
Theft of goods, pickpocketing, robbery and embezzlement: the list of common crimes in German supermarkets is long. Out-of-stocks can occur anywhere, from the receiving area, to the empties and goods warehouse, to the sales floor. The challenge of protecting his 1,200-square-metre Edeka supermarket in Pforzheim's city centre against such dangers was one of several that its operator, Bernhard Pischzan, had to contend with. The problem: the old video surveillance system only provided blurry images. Details crucial to convicting the alleged perpetrators with evidence that would stand up in court could not be seen. To better support his detective in preventing and solving the crimes, Pischzan therefore recently had a modern IP video surveillance system from ABUS installed.
The challenge and the solution
Modernisation and expansion of an existing video surveillance system
Replacement of all old existing cameras with high-resolution ABUS IP video cameras
Option for expansion if required
Secured the supermarket against theft of goods and pickpockets, robberies and embezzlement
Secured all outdoor and indoor areas with 33 ABUS IP video cameras
ABUS video management software (VMS) ‘made in Germany’ with intuitive operation for use by the shop detective
The sales areas for alcohol and cigarettes as well as the checkout areas were given additional security
Certain high-risk aisles of the supermarket under special surveillance
Rapid amortisation of video surveillance
Significantly lower losses due to crime
