Frequently asked questions about the smart BORDO folding locks

Which app should I download?
To operate your lock, you need the ABUS One app (successor to the SmartX app). It is compatible with iOS™ and Android™ operating systems. You can find it in the App Store or Play Store or here.

How do I connect the lock to the ABUS One app?
Open the app, initially scan the keycard of your lock and follow the instructions for registration within the app. If you are already registered in the app, you can connect any other lock to the app using the "ADD NEW ABUS DEVICE" button. You will also need the keycard initially.

Tip: In the app itself, you will see a short tutorial on how to use your lock.

Important information: Please keep the keycard in a safe place. Only with this can you identify yourself as the rightful owner of the lock and register it in our systems.

Can I operate the lock without an app?
You always need the ABUS One app (formerly SmartX) to set up and open the lock.

Tip: Did you know that you don't have to actively use the app to open the lock? If you have switched on Bluetooth® and the hands-free function, the lock unlocks automatically when you wake it up - just move the lock slightly. The hands-free function is already activated by default.

What happens if my smartphone battery runs out?
The smartphone is required to operate the lock. You should therefore always keep an eye on the battery status of the smartphone and the lock.

Tips: A power bank can help if your battery runs out while you're out and about. You can view the battery status of the lock at any time in the app.

Why does the remote control (RC) not seem to work?
Before you use the remote control, it must be assigned to your BORDO lock in the ABUS One app.
The lock must also be woken up by a slight movement so that it connects to the remote control. If the smartphone with an active Bluetooth® connection is nearby, the lock may pair with the smartphone and not with the remote control.

The remote control is therefore best used when you don't always have your smartphone with you or as a solution if your smartphone battery runs out.

I have been using the SmartX app so far: What do I need to bear in mind?
We recommend that you switch to the ABUS One app, as the SmartX app will no longer be supported and further developed by us in the future. In the new app, you can expect new designs, new features and proven SmartX security.

Before switching to the ABUS One app, however, you should find the keycard for your lock. This is necessary for logging into the app and therefore for continuing to use your lock.

How do I activate the alarm function or the monitoring mode?
To activate the monitoring mode, push the bar completely into the lock body when locking your bike. You will hear the lock lock automatically lock and you will also hear a sound when the lock has been successfully locked.

If your lock is in monitoring mode, it warns you of larger or longer-lasting movements with a louder warning tone. If the movements persist, a 100 dB alarm is triggered.

How do I prevent an accidental alarm?
To prevent an alarm during transport, set the lock to transport mode. To do this, do not push the bar of the folding lock completely into the lock body.

How does the hands-free function work?
The hands-free function is switched on by default on your lock.

Handsfree means that you can open your lock without a key and smartphone in your hand. If you are close to the lock with your smartphone in your pocket, you wake it up with a slight movement so that communication between the lock and the app is triggered. The lock then unlocks automatically.

You can adjust the radius of the hands-free function in the ABUS One app settings.

The app does not connect to the lock. What can I do?
If the BORDO One has already been configured in the app but suddenly cannot establish a connection, it is usually sufficient to briefly deactivate the Bluetooth® connection on your smartphone. As soon as you have reactivated Bluetooth® communication, the connection should be re-established without any problems.

Alternatively, it may help to close the app properly and reopen it.

What can I do if the ABUS One app is not displayed on my Apple Watch?
If the ABUS One app is not displayed on your Apple Watch, you have probably deactivated the Automatic app installation option in the Watch app. Open the Watch app on your iPhone, scroll down to the Available app item and install the ABUS One app by clicking on Install.
